New 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK AMG Spyshots Scoop: Mercedes' Next GLK Might Get an AMG Version After All Despite some reports claiming the opposite, these fresh scoop shots suggest that Mercedes-Benz's GLK replacement could get a high-performance AMG edition. The prototype was riding on a lowered suspension with bigger wheels and brakes than other testers we've seen to date, while also wearing a more pronounced rear bumper with visible exhaust finishers, all of which point to an AMG model. However, there's a question of what kind of AMG edition is this, as Mercedes has been tinkering with the idea of offering mid-level AMG cars to fill the gap between its regular line of vehicles and the high-performance AMG models, just like Audi does with its S and RS monikers, and BMW with the M Performance and M cars. The first mid-level AMG vehicle is believed to be the C450 AMG, rumored to debut at next year's Detroit Auto Show. If the car we spied is a tester for a pure AMG SUV, then it would borrow the C63 AMG's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with around 450 horses, but if it's a prototype for a mid-level AMG SUV, then it could get a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 producing close to 370hp. It's worth mentioning that, as part of a broader name change for the brand's SUV line-up, the next GLK will likely be renamed to GLC to show its relation to the C-Class upon which it is based.
